How to Pay for College: Financial Aid
For detailed information about Financial Aid in the UW Colleges, go to the
UW Colleges Financial Aid web site.
Financial aid provides money to help you meet your college expenses. The application process
determines your eligibility for assistance; you must apply for financial aid each year.
There are three key types of financial aid through federal and state sources, including grants
(gift assistance), loans, and work-study. Not all applicants qualify for all types of financial
aid. A fourth type of gift assistance, scholarships, may be possible through UW-Richland, your
high school, community organizations, or a variety of state and national organizations.
For an explanation of the various types of financial aid, and for information about financial
aid policies, see the
UW Colleges web site. A number of internet resources can also be accessed
at that site.
You can apply online for Financial Aid.
Important notes on Financial Aid applications:
Complete the FAFSA and submit it no later than April 15 for fall admission. (We encourage
you to do so by mid-March.) Forms are available in Student Services or at the

FastWEB
FastWEB (Financial Aid Search Through the WEB) is the largest and most complete scholarship
search on the Internet. It provides access to a searchable database of more than 600,000 private
sector scholarships, fellowships, grants, and student loans. Used by colleges across the
United States, FastWEB is now available to you FREE through the World Wide Web, courtesy of
UW-Richland and fastWEB.com, L.L.C.
To use fastWEB, a student fills out a detailed profile through a series of online forms.
After the forms are complete, fastWEB responds within a few minutes with a list of matching
awards. Each entry in this list includes information about deadlines, eligibility requirements,
award amounts, and contact information for the award provider.
