Learn About UW-Richland
Summer Programs
Innovative continuing education programs fill the summer season at UW-Richland, hosting area, urban, and international
learners of many ages.
The Precollege Program
...is a youth development program designed to build academic, leadership, and college ready for students in entering grades 7-12. Students apply for admittance to the program during the spring of their 6th grade years.
The UW-Richland Precollege Summer Experience Camp is a residential program that involves middle and high school youth in a mix of academic, team building, and recreational activities aimed at fostering a life-long love of learning and informed consideration of college options. Urban youth from Milwaukee mix with rural youth from southwestern Wisconsin, and collaborate in teambuilding activities and academics, building their knowledge of self and others in a supportive professional environment.
Full scholarships to cover the costs of tuition and fees are available to students who are of the first generation of their family to attend/complete college and whose families meet certain income requirements. Partial scholarships are available to students who meet one of the criteria above. Scholarships are awarded directly through the Office of Continuing Education and precollege. Regular tuition and fees to participate in this six-day residential program is $395.00. Tuition and fees cover the costs of all meals, housing, awards banquet, class-work, and supplies.

Japanese Youth Program
American Teen Mentors Needed
Goal of the Program: The UW-Richland Japanese ESL Institute provides intensive programming intended to improve Japanese students' oral comprehension and speaking skills and increase Japanese students' understanding of U.S. culture in preparation for one year of high school studies in the United States.
Benefits of the Program for U.S. Teens: The program offers teens the opportunity to work closely with teens of another culture. Teens receive training and experience in facilitating learning of the English language and introducing/explaining the U.S. culture. U.S. teens will gain understanding about their own culture and will interact with youth of another culture in a close working experience. Because some may be missing work to participate in the program, each of the U.S teens will receive an honorarium. As well, teen mentors' meals, linens, lodging and activity fees will be provided.
2008 Japanese Youth Program Dates: July 24 – August 2, 2008
