Why UW-Richland? Jennifer explains

Welcome. I’m Sarah Schultz, a sophomore at UW-Richland, the Student Senate President, and officer of Phi Theta Kappa, Honor Society. As a home school graduate, it can be extra challenging to attend a university, transitioning from a smaller-than-small class of seven siblings. That’s one of the reasons that UW-Richland is the best choice for me to “Start Ahead.” It has all of the more advanced and big ideas in a smaller and more affordable college setting than most around the state. It’s very helpful to have one-on-one time with your professor and tutoring is a great option for improving your grades. UW-Richland is a college where you can belong and there are clubs of many different areas of interest to join.

Everyone can find a place where they can be active, have fun, learn more, and achieve great things together. My intended major is business marketing with a minor in small business and perhaps, communication. I plan to transfer to UW- Platteville next fall, where I hope to stay just as involved in student life and activities, as I am here. I have a dream of running my own business one day and UW-Richland is one of the first steps in reaching it.

Welcome, Willkommen, مرحبا, 欢迎
My name is Osama Abdl-Haleem. Though most people mistake me for an international student, I actually come from a small farm about ten miles from campus. As previewed by my opening I am a student of language and serve here at UW-Richland as a Campus Ambassador, a member of the Student Senate and am the fourth of my siblings to attend UW-Richland. I was home schooled for the greater part of my education and, coming out of a close family of nine children, sought a school near home with an atmosphere of community. I say that I “sought a school” but in reality that school was right in front of me. In my opinion the University of Wisconsin-Richland has no competition, with its small class sizes, focused Professors, each a master in his or her field, and unparalleled staff.

However the diamond of UW-Richland is in its community, and its atmosphere of service, where students are served and given a chance to serve. Here is a place where you can learn inside and outside the classroom, where there are numerous people to turn to in times of need, and support networks to catch you if you fall, where you can put your information to action and turn it into knowledge without needing a degree, where you can realize your potential, hone your skills, and eventually, maybe a little sadly, move on. For my own part I intend to transfer to UW-Madison where I can pursue my degree in Linguistics and Cultural Anthropology. But for now, I’ll stay here for as long as I can.

Hi there! Let me welcome you from the entire UW-Richland community along with international students in our campus. My name is Dmitry (Dima) Kuznetsov, an international student from Russia. It was a very hard for me to leave my own home along with my mother language and everything I knew, travel across the globe and study in the United States. Several years ago, I became part of big YFU family and spent one year in Germany, and my senior year in high school in Duluth. Then, I was accepted at UW-Richland which became the starting point of my university education in the United States.

UW-Richland is a great place to study, with a very supportive community, helping staff, tutoring options and many choices to be involved and active in college life through clubs—to learn and simply have fun! Small classes help students and increase the attention they get. There’s more one-to-one between students and professors in contrast to bigger universities where there are hundreds of students in one classroom. Our professors are always very happy when students draw near and ask questions. UW-Richland always welcomes you to stop by and get a feel of this great and friendly atmosphere. Join us and start your college education and great experience at UW-Richland!
